CTET,ctet,teacher eligibity test


In order to ensure quality education being provided under Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) had laid some minimum eligibility criteria for appointment as teacher in class I-VIII.

To test these MINIMUM eligibity government conducts TEACHER ELIGIBILITY TEST (TET). To be a teacher, candidate has to qualify TET examination.

This test is conducted by central government and state government. Central government conduct TET named as CENTRAL TECHEAR ELIGIBILITY TEST ( CTET)and Which is conducted by C.B.S.E.
State government conduct’s test named as UP TET, BIHAR TET, etc.

ELIGIBILITY for the CTET:

Minimum Qualifications for Classes I-V: Primary Stage

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final
    year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final
    year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with
    the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final
    year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final
    year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

  • OR
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education
    (by whatever name known).
Minimum Qualification for Classes VI-VIII: Elementary Stage


  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by
    whatever name known).

  • OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education
    (B.Ed).

  • OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education
    (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued
    from time to time in this regard.

  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final
    year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

  • OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final
    year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

  • OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special
    Education).

Structure of CTET examination:

It consists of two paper I and paper II. Paper I is for class I-V and Paper II is for VI-VIII.

 Structure for Paper I:

  1. Child development and pedagogy
  2. Language I
  3. Language II
  4. Mathematics
  5. Environmental studies
Each section will contain 30 question carrying one marks each. (Total 150 question).
Paper I will be compulsory paper.
There is no negative marking.

Structure of Paper II.

  1. Child development and pedagogy
  2. Language I
  3. Language II
  4. Mathematics and science for mathematics and science teacher. OR Social sciences for social studies teacher.
All section will have 30 questions of one mark each. Except section IV which contain 60 question.
There is no negative marking.
Note: language I and Language II are the following languages
English
Hindi
Assamese
Bengali
Garo
Gujarati
Kannada
Khasi
Malayalam
Manipuri
Mizo
Nepali
Oriya
Punjabi
Sanskrit
Tamil
Telugu
Tibetan
Urdu
Candidate have to chose two among the following list.


Qualifying marks and CTET certificate:
Minimum qualifying marks for the examination is 60% percentage. That is you should have 90 correct answerer out of 150 questions.


Uses of CTET certificate:
If anybody wants to be teacher in school funded and controlled by central government. Candidates need this certificate. Centrally funded schools are KV’s, navodaya vidhyalaya, etc
This certificate will be valid for 7 years!!!!!
