Allahabad university was established in 1887, formally it was Muir Central College, named after Governer of north provinces , Sir william Muir.
Allahabad university regains its status as Central university through ‘ Univerisity of allahabad act, 2005’.
Current Vice Chancellor of Allahabad University is Prof. Anil K. singh
And Chancellor Dr. Verghese Kurien.
