Master of Computer Application Common TEST 2012
NIMCET-2012
NIMCET
is national level test conducted by NIT’s for admission in their MCA program.
The admission to the MCA prgoramme in to NITs at Agartala, Allahabad,
Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal,
Tiruchirappalli and Warangal for the year 2012-13 is be based on the Rank
obtained in NIMCET-2012 ONLY. The Curriculum and Syllabi of Master of
Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by NITs are designed considering
the needs of different Information Technology Firms in India and abroad. MCA
graduates have high potential for jobs in IT Sector.
MCA is three year master degree program in computer
application.
ELIGIBILITY:
Indian
Nationals securing 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC,
ST category) in
(i) 12th (i.e.
10 + 2) level or equivalent with Mathematics as one of the subjects at either
10+1 or 10+2 level or at both the levels
and
(ii) Qualifying
Degree -
Bachelor’s Degree of Full time* 3 year or more duration from a recognized
University with at least one of the following as a chosen subject of study:
Mathematics,
Statistics, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Discrete Mathematics,
Mathematical
Foundations of Computer Science, Computational Mathematics,
Elementary
Mathematics, Elementary Statistics are eligible to apply for NIMCET-2012.
HOW
TO APPLY:
Form can
be applied only through online mode.candidates fill online application on website http://
nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in between 06-02-2012 to 02-04-2012.please ensure that you
should have demand draft(DD) for processing fee, scanned copy their latest
passport photo, signature. Take the hard copy and post it with all enclosures.

FEES:
The processing
Fee for NIMCET-2012 test and counseling for admission to the MCA program is
Rs.1500 /- for OPEN/OBC category and Rs. 750/- for SC/ST category candidates.
Candidates have to take Demand Draft for an appropriate amount relevant to
their category. Demand Draft must be drawn in favor of “NIMCET-2012”,
payable at Warangal.
ADMISSION PROCESS:

Candidates
will be awarded with NIMCET-2012 rank and they have to take print out of their rank.
Candidates
who got rank can login and fill the choices of participating institutes in
their order of preference between 12-06-2012 to 18-06-2012. They can modify
these choices or reorder them any number of times. However, they have to lock
their choices on or before 5 pm on 18-06-2012.

Getting Admitted to Allotted Institute: After the fourth
round of allotment, i.e. between 10-07-2012 to 12-07-2012, candidates are required
to physically present at the latest allotted institute for registration.

MATHMATICS:

Concepts of sets – Union, Intersection, Cardinality, Elementary counting;
permutations and combinations.
Probability
and Statistics: Basic
concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events,
frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions.
Algebra:
Fundamental
operations in algebra, expansions, factorization, simultaneous linear / quadratic
equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic
progressions, determinants and matrices.
Coordinate
Geometry: Rectangular
Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, and intersection
of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and
hyperbola.
Calculus:
Limit
of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and
normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of functions by
parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals,
applications of definite integrals to areas.
Vectors:
Position
vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and
their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.
Trigonometry:
Simple
identities, trigonometric equations properties of triangles, solution of
triangles, heights and distances, general solutions of trigonometric equations.
ANALYTICAL ABILITY AND LOGICAL REASONING: (40

The
questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on
the facts given in the passage.
COMPUTER
AWARENESS: (10 questions)
Computer
Basics: Organization
of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU,
input/output devices, computer memory, and back-up devices.
Data
Representation: Representation
of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations,
binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple
arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of
numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.
GENERAL
ENGLISH: (20 questions)
Questions
in this section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding
of the English language. There will be questions on the following topics:
Comprehension,
vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs,
prepositions and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, meaning of words
and phrases, technical writing.
