IBPS MATHEMATICS | SSC MATHEMATICS | CHAPTER 3 NUMBER SYSTEM

Here  I will show you how to find least and greatest element in a series.

Basically there are 2 methods for determing this.

Lets take an example first.
Question:  which one of the following fraction is the greatest?
                 3/4, 4/5 and 5/6
Solution
First method: calculate its decimal equivalent and find greatest.
                                3/4=0.75 ; 4/5= 0.8 ; 5/6= 0.833
                So greatest is 5/6
                Second method:
Find the  LCM of denominator and change denominator of all by LCM so obtained.
The number with largest numinator is greatest fraction.

Shortcut method and which can be done mentally.
First study this relationship:

Now we see that increase in numinator is 1 and increase in denominator is 1
And 1> 3/4  so, last value is greatest.
similarly, we can solve
Question:  which one of the following fraction is the greatest?
                 2/7, 4/15 and 6/23.

This was first method second method Tomorrow.
Please add your comment for encoragement.
